Acupuncture
Duties and responsibilities:
Unlike conventional Western medical practice, acupuncture
professionals are trained to treat the entire individual rather than the
specific illness or condition. They take into account a patient's physical,
mental and emotional condition in order to determine the proper course of
treatment. In addition to providing acupuncture therapy, practitioners help
their patients achieve balance and wellness in their everyday live.
Salary: $41,100 - $144,380.
Education: Many of the acupuncturist degrees available are at the master's
and doctoral levels. Master's degree programs typically take 3-4 years to
complete and equip students with the diagnostic and therapeutic skills needed
to practice acupuncture as a primary source of healthcare. Curricula focus on
acupuncture methods as well as other Oriental and Western medicines. Students
may take courses like herbal medicine, needle technique, acupuncture points and
biomedicine.
Reflection:
I don't want to be one because I’m
afraid of needles and it's a complicated job so I would not like to be one.
