Memorial Day is celebrated at Arlington National Cemetery each year with a ceremony in which a small American flag is placed on each grave. Traditionally, the President or Vice President lays a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. About 5,000 people attend the ceremony annually.

Every Memorial Day, families and communities across the nation take time to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Americans observe this special holiday in many different ways:

Displaying the Flag

On Memorial Day, the U.S. flag should be displayed at half-staff until noon. In the morning, the flag should be raised momentarily to the top and then lowered to half-staff. Americans can also honor prisoners of war and those missing in action by flying the POW/MIA flag.

Visiting Grave Sites

Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day because communities honored their war dead by decorating their graves with flowers. Many Americans make special flower arrangements and deliver them as a family to grave sites of their loved ones and ancestors.

Participating in the National Moment of Remembrance

In accordance with a congressional resolution passed in 2000, Americans pause wherever they are at 3:00 p.m. local time for a moment of silence to remember and honor the fallen.

Visiting Local Veterans’ Homes and Hospitals

Many living American veterans require long-term medical care or housing assistance, and they can often feel forgotten. The Memorial Day holiday is a great time to let them know that we appreciate their sacrifice and that of their families and their friends lost in battle.

Attending Memorial Day Parades

The Memorial Day parade is a time-honored tradition in cities and towns across America. Neighbors come together to remember with pride those who sacrificed so much for our country.

Reflection: No one likes war. It is a horrible thing. But regardless of your political beliefs or your feelings about sending men and women into battle, Memorial Day is a day to remember those brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. This is the second year celebrating memorial day for me and it doesn’t matter if i was born and raised in another country, we need to show respect and honor those who fight and expose their live every day for this beautiful nation that now is my nation too and for me it doesn’t matter where you came from we always need to show honor for those who died and live , for those who fight for us , to make our nation a better place and they fought for our freedom, for a nation with freedom with peace , with love so i think this is an important holiday for everyone and we need to honor those who die for our nation, for our country.

Reflection: i’m truly agree with this quote because all the reasons to tell the truth are important and i think everyone should know them because it makes you realize that if you lie all the consequences you're going to have and that lies just makes the things worst and however everyone it’s going to find out the truth. And also always telling the truth makes you a honest person and honesty makes you a good person if you're not honest no one is going to trust you even if you’re telling the true because your reputation is going to be bad so everyone is going to think that you’re always lying and that turns you to a bad person and telling lies gets you more in trouble than telling the truth and if you tell the true it becomes part of your past but if you tell a lie it becomes part of your future and lies are the ones that stop you to be happy and to have your cognizant clear.

Yoga therapist

Reflection: i wouldn’t like to be one because i don’t like this types of jobs but i mean is a really interesting job and it’s a way to help other people.

I’m agree with this quote because it’s true those are the rewards of doing what’s right for example once i went to eat with my friends so we brought pizza then we saw a lady with a little kid they were homeless and they were asking for money to eat so we took one slide for each one of us and the rest of the pizza we give it to the lady and the little kid so the lady was surprised and she was telling us thank you , thank you and that god is big and that we were going to get our rewards but we already did we saw the face of the lady and the little kid of joy of thankful  and it really felt nice helping them and we didn't even thought about it we just did it and i’m glad we did because those little things are what makes our world better, kindness.

Reflection: i would like to be a sports medicine because, i would like to work with athletes and physicians to develop rehabilitation plans and help them by giving therapies and things like that so i would like to work as a sports medicine.

Reflection: i think this tips are very useful because for success , to have success we need to work really hard and set our goals, also follow our passions do what we liked to do, for example what sense has work but in something you don’t like, your not going to be happy. Serve others it’s very important because that makes us better persons that help others , kind persons and that very important. In my opinion the 5th tip would be achieve your dreams/goals because for me that’s very important and the key for success, also choose the right/ do the right thing because if you want to succeed in life you need to choose the right and do the right thing because decisions determine destiny and for a better future we need to do the right thing and become a person with rights, kind , with integrity and with honesty.

Woman aged 116 who is only living person born in 19th century becomes oldest in world

Emma Morano took the title after the death of previous record holder Susannah Mushatt Jones, who is just a few months older, last night

Mrs Morano, who has survived two World Wars , claims the secret to her longevity is eating three eggs a day - two of them raw, which she has eaten since a doctor recommended doing so when she was diagnosed with anemia at the age of 20, the Telegraph reports.

She also credits eating small amounts of minced meat and only having milk for supper.

30-year-old Scooter as oldest living cat

It has just been confirmed that a 30-year-old Siamese from Mansfield, Texas is the new oldest cat alive.

Born March 26, 1986, Scooter lives with his owner Gail Floyd, who was there the day the kitten was born – and he’s been right by her side ever since.

As a kitten, Scooter liked to play in Gail’s hair and even became accustomed to riding on her shoulder, going with her wherever she went. Nowadays, nothing has changed. He wakes Gail up every morning at 6 AM, “talking” and jumping around, and is always waiting by the door when she arrives home from work.

While impressive, Scooter’s record is still short of the Oldest cat ever — Crème Puff of Austin, TX, who lived 38 years 3 days (more than double the average life expectancy of the species).

Reflection: i’m agree with the quote of Theodore Roosevelt because at any moment or decision you best thing you can do is the right thing, it doesn’t matter if everyone else is doing it, or if they are pushing you to do it if you know it’s not the right thing to do, don’t do it as the quote says” decision determine destiny” if you choose the wrong and you know it wasn't the right thing to do, that’s going to affect your future because every decision , you make every action, it’s going to affect your future, for example if you do right things , good thing are coming for you , but if you choose the wrong, bad things would happen.
